Who can join Barton Office Professionals?

All Barton employees, including supervisors, whose primary work assignments are non-instructional are invited to become part of this organization.

What are the benefits of membership in B-OP?

All members are entitled to be members of the Association of Kansas Community College Occupational Professionals (AKCCOP site).  With such membership comes the opportunity to attend the State AKCCOP Conference, serve on boards and committees, and serve as officers. Members are also eligible to apply for an AKCCOP Grant of up to $200 per academic year/per applicant, after a full year of membership.

Are there dues for B-OP membership?

No! For the 2015-16 year, dues are waived. (Dues have historically been $10 per year and were due on the last working day of September.)

I have seen AKCCOP on the site. What is AKCCOP?

AKCCOP stands for the Association of Kansas Community College Occupational Professionals. It includes members from 2-year higher-learning institutions in Kansas. The association has roots from 1968 and formally adopted the current official name in 1991. Visit the AKCCOP site at www.akccop.org.

What institutions are part of AKCCOP?

Statewide participation includes professionals from Allen Community College, Barton Community College, Butler Community College, Cloud County Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Colby Community College, Cowley College, Dodge City Community College, Fort Scott Community College, Garden City Community College, Highland Community College, Hutchinson Community College, Independence Community College, Johnson County Community College, Kansas City KS Community College, Labette Community College, Manhattan Area Technical School, Neosho County Community College, Pratt Community College, and Seward County Community College/Area Technical School.

Where and when is the AKCCOP State Conference?

Annual State AKCCOP Conferences are hosted by an institution with current Office/Occupational Professional participation.

AKCCOP Conference 2014

The 2013-14 AKCCOP Conference "Waves of Change, Oceans of Opportunity", in March 2014, was held in Chanute, KS at Neosho County Community College.

AKCCOP Conference 2015

Johnson County Community College hosted the 2014-15 AKCCOP Conference "What's on the Menu" on April 15-17, 2015.

Where is the Barton Office Professionals meeting held?

Meetings are usually held in the Learning Resource Center (LRC, Room 136) at the Barton Main campus. It is located near the north entrance to the LRC.
