The College acknowledges its responsibility to prepare students for academic success. As a means of helping students achieve the necessary skill foundation essential for collegiate work, the President or his/her designee is authorized to adopt procedures for academic assessment and placement.

Procedure 2540 - Credit Hour Allocation
The College is a comprehensive community college. It will offer educational programs for career preparation, transfer to four-year colleges and universities, developmental studies, and a range of extended services to meet the life-long learning needs of its citizens. It is the policy of the College's instructional programs to strive to adhere to the "Barton Governance Manual" as established by the Board of Trustees and those of any accreditation bodies with which it is formally associated.

Procedure 2525 - College to University Articulation Agreements
Credit bearing courses and associated certificate and degree programs are developed, reviewed and processed by the Learning, Instruction & Curriculum Committee with membership including faculty and staff. The Vice-President of Instruction oversees the committee with an appointed designee leading meetings and activities. Administrative support is provided by the Vice-President’s staff.
The committee facilitates a process that ensures consistency of curriculum across the instructional system regardless of venue and modality. Additionally, the committee safeguards statewide transfer and workforce alignments, college to university articulation agreements and course design that addresses integrity, academic rigor, quality of course design and assessment of student learning.
