College Forums – College Forums are monthly meetings scheduled and lead by the President to update employees on college happenings; ranging from awards to funds, technology to government. It is an open table meeting with time for questions and concerns to be shared.

Training and Development

Professional Development & Enrichment

Employees are the principal strengths of Barton Community College. They merit professional development support that promotes individual growth, retention, and the desire and ability to join with the institution to meet the challenging and changing needs of partners, students, constituents and communities. Stay up to date through the Professional Development Committee (PDC) minutes, this site will represent the Great Bend PDC, as Ft. Riley has been assigned one for their location. If you would like information from the Ft. Riley PDC, please contact Abby Werth.

This site will also assist you with free online training courses from Word to Excel to Access at the GCFLearn Free site as well as some quick training courses on Customer Service to Assessment Training through Starlink. We also have lists of TED lectures that are interesting and inspiring. Barton encourages personal enrichment.

Faculty Council

Faculty Council members work with the Vice President and Administration to represent Faculty and have an active voice on matters that effect the Faculty.

Mandatory Online Training

The training may focus on employee or institutional-related issues which may include, but shall not be limited to, computer training, quality customer service, and other compliance training, etc. as deemed appropriate by the Institution.

Position Codes 10-70, excluding position code 40, as new employees at Barton Community College, are required to take Online Training. The mandatory online training courses include: Anti-Harassment, Employment Discrimination, Disabilities 101, FERPA, Student Discipline, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Drug-Free Environment. To get you into the stream of the mandatory training courses, you will be contacted by Human Resources when it is time to get started on your training. Renewal of these courses is required every three years.
