The "openness" of OER depends upon permissive licensing, most commonly Creative Commons (CC) licenses. Join us for an introduction to CC licenses designed to assist educators in recognizing, understanding, complying with, and applying CC licenses in teaching and learning environments.

Presenter Bios
Josh Bolick is a Scholarly Communication Librarian at the University of Kansas, where he leads open education initiatives, including managing a $100K OER Grant Program and KU Libraries' Textbook Heroes Initiative. Josh is an OER Research Fellow and presenter for the Open Education Network.

Victoria Koger is an Assistant Professor and the Coordinator of Collection Acquisitions at Wichita State University Libraries. When stepping into this position a year ago, she brought her interest and engagement in OER to WSU where she works with with the members of the Open/Alternative Textbook initiative (OAT).

Brian Lindshield is an Associate Professor in the Department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health at Kansas State University. He is the co-founder/co-leader of the Kansas State Open/Alternative Textbook Initiative and chair of the KBOR OER Steering Committee. He created an OER a decade ago that he continues to evolve as he teaches using it.

Lee Miller is the Director of Innovation and Compliance at Barton Community College. There she assists faculty with OER, ADA, and Academic Integrity. She also serves as the DOERS3 representative and is an OpenEd Steering Committee member.

Claire Nickerson is the Learning Initiatives and Open Educational Resources (OER) Librarian at Fort Hays State University (FHSU). She chairs FHSU’s OER Committee and administers two institutional OER grant programs.

Sarah Owen is in her fourth year as the Director of Library Services for Independence Community College. She holds a MLIS from Emporia State and an MA in Theatre from Oklahoma City University. She is in her 14th year of higher education and is passionate about community college education.
